Advocating for greater disabled facilities

A couple of months back, Paynters completed the design and construction of the Mackay Aquatic and Recreation Centre with an overwhelming response received by the local community during their official opening.

This facility is certainly one that warms our hearts. Not only were all aquatic facilities fitted with full disability access, including hoists into the pools, but the client requested the engagement of the Changing Places project.

Changing Places is a project to advocate for public toilets with full sized change tables and hoists in major public spaces across Australia. These facilities are provided to meet the needs of people with severe and profound disabilities.

Paynters assisted in the accreditation process, alongside the Mackay Regional Council & PDT Architects.

There are currently only 7 of these facilities registered across the State. Our entire team are proud to be associated with such a fantastic initiative!
