Cairns Supported Accommodation

The Department of Housing and Public Works have been working closely with Paynters since late 2014 to develop the Supported Accommodation Facilities under a Managing Contract form of agreement that involved Paynters providing all of the normal Design and Construct Services and additionally providing numerous milestone reports, presentations and stakeholder meetings.

The development is located on a relatively flat site in Cairns with specialist acoustic requirements due to its close proximity to some main roads. 23 studio units have been included, with 3 of the units initially amalgamated and fitted out as administration offices for the managing community organisation. Shared external spaces incorporated small and larger landscaped spaces, sheltered BBQ and related amenities, as well as some built in planter seats and vegetable gardens to support activities that form part of the model of care for this target group.
