About us

About 60 years ago we started shaking up the building industry by doing something no one else was doing: listening.

At Paynters we’ve built a reputation on a foundation of respect and partnership with our clients. To be sure, our comprehensive end-to-end design and construction project solutions gives a proven assurance of meeting our clients’ needs, but it’s through a collaborative partnership that we’re able to consistently exceed expectations.

Paynters is a proven leader in project solutions, and we continue to shape the growth and development of Australia’s Residential Aged Care, Government and Insurance sectors.

If you’re looking for someone to partner with you instead of just provide a service, then we’d love to listen.

Track record

They say the proof is in the proverbial pudding, or, as the case may be, in the very real delivery of award-winning, quality building projects for over 60 years.

Paynters has been awarded Queensland Master Builders awards on numerous projects, regularly taking out regional and state categories. We have a proven ability to inject innovative creativity in order to deliver successful building projects in market sectors such as Health, Residential Aged Care, Social Housing, Education, Insurance, Hospitality, Industrial and more. However, it is the fact that so many of our clients stay with us for decades through dozens of  projects that is the true testament to our success and your assurance of a trusted partner.

Our values

It seems like a lot of the time companies come up with vague positive-sounding values after the fact. By contrast, we have built our business on living our values, and they are what continue to help it thrive to the benefit of our clients, staff and stakeholders.

More than anything we value an ethos of understanding. We genuinely strive to understand our clients’ needs and aspirations, to listen more than we speak, to let the knowledge and truth of aspects such as their industry, the peculiarities of a particular building site, or the values of our client’s business itself be the lights by which we move forward.

Our clients are paramount
We build relationships on a foundation of honesty, integrity and trust. We believe that listening to and collaborating with our clients is the key to both enduring relationships and successful projects.
Our people are our business
We care about the health and well-being of our staff, and we believe that creating a work environment that facilitates a balanced lifestyle is in the best interests of our employees, our clients, and our business. We support our staff in their personal and professional development, reward their contributions to our business, and provide pathways for them to fulfil their dreams.
Our business thrives through communication and innovation
By facilitating a culture of open communication and shared knowledge, we allow everyone in our team to contribute and be heard. We balance tried and true practical common sense and experience with an ever-present receptivity to change and creative insights that help us to improve and grow.
We take responsibility for our own success or failure
Through both our successes and the problems we encounter we always seek to look within rather than externalise. While we recognise that we don’t always have full control, we will always take full ownership and responsibility.
Work should be challenging and fun
We believe that work shouldn’t feel like a burden to endure, but rather a challenge to meet. There is an inherent joy to achieving excellence and fostering a sense of meaning and purpose in our work.
We are all in this together
With Paynters there is no ‘us and them’. We believe in an authentic spirit of working together both internally as well as with our suppliers, stakeholders and clients. More than any particular guideline or rule, it is this mindset of partnering with each other that guides our values.

Our culture

Our culture is inherently collaborative and based on mutual respect, both internally as well as with our clients and stakeholders.

Our community

We believe that we’re part of the communities in which we operate, and therefore have a responsibility to help provide long-term economic and social benefits for them.

We choose to work with businesses that demonstrate clear, long-term plans for delivering financial and operational sustainability. We help to drive local industry participation in our projects, and endeavour to engage local input wherever possible.

In rural and remote locations, we work with local governments and businesses, tailoring our activities to respond to the unique requirements of the community. Through this process of responsive engagement we have built a positive and valuable reputation, and we continue to build on these relationships as we grow.

Our commitment

The safety of our people, subcontractors, our clients and the general public is of paramount importance in the undertaking of Paynters operations. We are committed to zero harm in the workplace. Paynters OHS system is third party certified, for compliance to OHSAS 18001:2007. We also hold accreditation from the Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner, Australian Building and Construction OHS Accreditation Scheme.

Our company recognises the effects the building and construction industry has on the environment, and maintains a system that is third party accredited to the AS/NZS ISO 14001:2016 Environmental Management System (EMS) to ensure we are playing our part for future generations.

Exceptional Quality Management is the norm here at Paynters. We hold a ISO 9001:2015 (AS/NZS ISO 9001:2016) compliant Quality Management System (QMS), with every project subject to our QMS system.
