Collapsed External Wall Leads to Round-the-Clock Make Safe Works

Earlier this month Paynters were called in to undertake emergency make safe works following the collapse of an external wall of a four-storey office building in the main street of a North Sydney suburb, Crows Nest. The collapse caused nearby residents and businesses to be evacuated and three surrounding streets to be closed.

Working around the clock, our Sydney Insurance team liaised with numerous stakeholders including the insurer, loss adjuster, four state and local government departments to develop a methodology to mitigate further loss and eliminate any risk to public safety, thus allowing the busy precinct to be restored to its former condition.

The make safe involved the partial demolition of the compromised sections of building and resulted in the disposal of over 1200 tonnes of concrete, steel, and general waste. Paynters and our local subcontractors are now in the final stages of the works and will be providing access for the suite of consultants to begin scoping the reinstatement works from next week as we work to produce a pre-loss position without delay!
