After the monsoonal flood event in North Queensland in January 2019, the Townsville Turf Club sustained substantial damage and was required to be completely reconstructed.

“The club is located on the outskirts of Townsville in Cluden and was completely inundated with flood waters coupled with water ingress from above,” said Insurance Director, James Aitken.

“To reduce the impact of the business interruption, we staged the works to enable the club to continue trading. We created temporary facilities for the jockey’s and stewards utilising relocatable demountable buildings and provided assistance to the club for race days and functions providing marquees to house the patrons.” said Mr Aitken.

The team have created an entirely new members precinct for the club, including a new public sports bar, members’ lounge, lawn, and restaurant.
