Paynters Dig Deep at Milton Community Garden

Some of our wonderful Paynters team members recently rolled up their sleeves and showed some true community spirit. Our team joined forces with the dedicated volunteers at the Milton Community Garden, helping them to restore their growing space adjacent to Milton State School.

Over the last 12 months, the garden has lost many volunteers and funding due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with upkeep falling behind, and several building tasks unable to be actioned.

It was a great afternoon for our team, who were passionate about bringing this garden back to life for both the school and local community members to continue to enjoy. Garden beds were repaired, and temporary archways were built with scrap materials sourced from Paynters construction site at the school. Our hardworking apprentices constructed a small garden shed to assist with storage, with the wider team completing various gardening tasks such as fertilising, composting, watering and so on.

The garden is an integral part of the Milton State School community, with students incredibly engaged in the gardening activities, regularly delivering their green waste from their classrooms, and often helping harvest new vegetables. With Paynters working closely with the school community over the last 15 months on the new Junior Learning Centre (almost at completion), it was a no brainer for our team to help out on this worthy community project.

We look forward to another session with the Community Garden team in the coming weeks, hoping to see the space thriving once again as we enter spring!
