PDQ breaks ground at Redlands RSL
Site works have officially kicked off at Redlands RSL, as Paynter Dixon Queensland (PDQ) undertake the $9.5 million-dollar Stage 2 Multi Storey Carpark and Club Interface project. The works involve the design and construction of a new three level carpark, which will provide an additional 324 car spaces.
As the new carpark will be constructed on the Clubs current car parking area, PDQ have been commissioned to construct a temporary on grade carpark for 135 car spaces for patrons to utilise throughout the construction phase.
Business Development Manager Brett David has worked closely with the Redlands RSL team and board members since the initial planning phase.
“The Board had a clear vision of what they were striving to achieve in regard to future development opportunities” said Mr David. “The aim was to create a carpark that would ease the current parking short fall, with a design that was flexible from a staging point of view. We are very excited to see our team’s hard work become a reality for our client’s at Redlands RSL” he said.
It was vital to the Redlands RSL General Manager Peter Harrison that every aspect of the project planning prioritised the needs of patrons.
“The club identified the need for additional car parking requirements for our Members and Guests, and wanted a Construction company that would maximise the current club site and the additional land acquisitions, whilst minimising the impact on our club’s operations. I believe the final result will be outstanding once completed” said Mr Harrison.
The new additions and upgrades to the club were designed to fit in seamlessly with the existing club structure.
Mr Harrison explains “we wanted to ensure that the new multi-level carpark didn’t just look like any other concrete carpark. We are on the gateway to North Stradbroke Island and really wanted to retain an aesthetically appealing façade that fits with the existing club premises. We selected PDQ for the Design and Construction delivery, who took on board our brief, listened and worked with us to achieve what I consider will be a first-class facility.”
In addition to the carpark, the project also encompasses club extensions to create connectivity to the new multi-level carpark. These include, a new club entry to Passage street, an undercover drop-off zone for patron’s comfort, along with lift access from levels two and three directly into the Clubs Foyer. To facilitate the clubs proposed masterplans the existing gaming room is to be extended along with the refurbishment and extension of the current office areas.
The official sod turning ceremony took place on December 5th 2017, with LNP Member for Cleveland Mark Robertson and Member for Cleveland Peter Mitchell, Division 2 Councillor for Cleveland/ North Stradbroke Island, in attendance.
The Club’s Board and management were also present on the day, including Peter Harrison – General Manager, Alan Harcourt – President, Ian Gray – Deputy President, Les Warner – Vice President, Michael McDonnell – League Secretary and Linda Harcourt – Board member, along with the PDQ project team members (pictured).
PDQ are commissioned to complete the works in the latter part of 2018.
