REVITALISING TOWNSVILLE’S PIMLICO TAFE CAMPUS

Construction of a new two storey Teaching and Learning facility for TAFE Queensland will begin shortly with Paynters awarded the contract earlier this week. Today, Deputy Premier Jackie Trad, the Hon Coralee O’Rourke, Tafe Qld General Manager, Ian Smythe & Paynters team members Joe Watkins & Matt Shea were at the Pimlico campus, turning sod & kicking off the much-anticipated project.

The new works adjacent the existing D Block building will include internal spaces such as Clinical Wards, General and Flexible Learning areas; Hospitality Kitchen and Bar areas; Hair and Beauty; IT Lab; Library Resource Centre; and Student Breakout areas. The building is embellished with feature façade treatments along with integrated hard and soft landscaping.

It comes after the State Government unveiled its vision for a multimillion-dollar upgrade to the TAFE back in June. The Townsville TAFE Campus was well and truly ready for a makeover, with the last new building built 40 years ago.
