Wynnum Manly renovations ahead of schedule

When Paynters began works at Wynnum Manly Leagues Club (WMLC) earlier this year, no one could have anticipated the club shutting its doors due to a world-wide pandemic.

WMLC CEO Craig Thomas previously said it was one of the worst days of his life when he stood down staff after the outbreak of COVID-19, however, he is happier now, saying they can’t wait to reopen, even under restricted rules.

For Paynters, we are very familiar building within operational clubs, however, this down time has allowed our site team to expedite the program in certain areas.

“Renovations are ahead of where they should be because we have shut down to the public. We’ve been able to work on messy things that would have been done later on in time, so it means when we launch the rejuvenated club later this year or early next year, everything will be open to our members, community and visitors at the same time.” said Mr Thomas.

The redevelopment will include a new wing to the club allowing for a front presence to the traffic, a new open planned cafe and dining area with live entertainment, plus a new start-of-the-art gaming lounge, as well as the main field at Kougari Oval moving 6m towards the famous “Chook Pen”. It will be the clubs biggest facelift in its 40-year history.
