As part of the Queensland Government’s $46.7 million Counter Terrorism and Community Safety Centre project at the Westgate Complex in Wacol, Paynters were engaged as the design & construction partner for the refurbishment of heritage-listed Jacaranda and Silky Oak Houses buildings.

The first phase is for the refurbishment of the heritage listed Jacaranda and Silky Oak Houses and additional carparking for Yuggera House.  These buildings, which formed accommodation buildings in the historical and now closed, Wolston Park Hospital Complex which opened in 1865, have been redeployed as office accommodation for the training personnel as part of the state-of-the-art Queensland Police Counter Terrorism and Community Safety Centre.

This project has been an excellent opportunity to harness the extensive experience our Company has in institutional projects and deliver outcomes under an effective collaborative model. Features of the completed first stage include preservation of heritage aspects of the original buildings, structural rehabilitation to meet code compliance and the formation of a range of contemporary working environments.
