Paynters has now completed in excess of 30 different projects for Kedron Wavell over a period of 30 years. The latest collaboration involved a substantial rejuvenation and repositioning of the Clubs key areas, namely its main Entry Foyer, its 280 machine Gaming Lounge and the former Kokoda Restaurant.

The brief was to reinvent the Kokoda restaurant into a new, fresh destination, to inject new life into the Gaming Lounge and to rejuvenate its dated main Foyer into a modern, sophisticated space that lived up to the promise of what lies beyond its front door. The journey starts at the stunningly transformed three storey Entry Foyer, complete with a spectacular, twisted stainless steel light sculpture, floating dramatically above the patrons. Restaurant Three, boasts a bold and energetic décor tempered by its a soft palette of light neutral tones and timbers.

The result is a fresh, energetic space that takes Club Dining to a new level. Paynters site team were working in up to five areas of the Club at once, and through careful planning on our part and a willing and flexible client, we were able to deliver an exceptional design and operational results, further enhancing Kedron Wavell’s reputation as one of the leading Clubs in Queensland. When the Kedron-Wavell Services Club asked Paynters to design and construct their new café HQ, what resulted was a journey which substantially transformed the way patrons experience the Club, starting from the first arrival through to the discovery of the new Cafe within. The functional aim of the project was to expand the dining offering of the original Café, and to reinvent its brand within the Club. The main features of the project included an impressive external covered courtyard, a doubling of the seating capacity, a brand new kitchen area, a contemporary new Bar and Cafe servery, and a feature wine display. The rich and inviting décor, along with key specialist lighting helps reinvent this once tired space into an energised Café by day and an alluring sophisticated restaurant by night.
