Affectionately nicknamed “the tin shed”, the Port Douglas & District Combined Club was always going to be a challenging yet exciting renovation. After initial concepts had been decided by the club, the client requested that Paynters ‘fine tune’ the concept design into an efficient operational club.

The Paynters team worked with the client to overcome a number of code and operational issues that were identified before construction commenced. The finished product provided a large open lounge area and wrap around multi purpose alfresco deck area capturing magnificent views of the picturesque Coral Sea, not obtainable within its previous existence.

The second floor addition also included new male and female toilets, lift and a new high end bar providing an intimate setting for those wishing to enjoy the Port Douglas coastline. On the ground floor, Paynters created a welcoming feel when entering the club, with a new foyer, reception/office area, Gaming lounge, and kids playroom.

The rejuvenated club now has a modern edge blending into the original section of the club. There is plenty of charm within the club and has through great service created a must visit location in the heart of Port Douglas. The club has now engaged Paynters to prepare its final phase of its masterplan.
