After a fire broke out in the kitchen of the Port Office Hotel, Paynters began construction to rejuvenate the iconic pub.

Although the fire was contained within minutes, it did cause significant damage within the roof cavity, which saw Paynters take the heritage listed building back to a shell in order to replace all services.

The hotel was closed for seven weeks while the construction team worked extended hours to deliver on a promise. That promise was that two pre-booked functions in late August would go ahead, despite the substantial volume of works. The project incorporated a new commercial kitchen, restaurant fit out, amenities & plant & equipment central services on top of the building.

Whilst operating an accelerated programme, Paynters offered innovative solutions to avoid the event occurring again, with a state-of-the-art fire suppression system installed, a product that delivers above and beyond the Australian Standards & significantly reducing the possibilities of a kitchen fire.
