Townsville Hospital’s new clinical research facility has further enhanced the reputation of the hospital as a major teaching and research hub for the local area. Townsville Hospital and Health Board chair Tony Mooney recently said “With the demand for health services increasing year on year and a strong research focus, it’s important to find new and innovative ways to meet the challenges of increased demand.”

The Research & Clinical Trials project consisted of two zones within the one commercial fit out. It will become the new home for the research ethics team, the medical education support unit and research educators from both the Townsville Hospital and James Cook University.

The Research component of the project consisted of a Commercial administration fit out for the purpose of medical and scientific clerical research. The Clinical Trials area incorporated a medical grade fit out for clinical based trials including consult and procedure rooms.

Whilst Paynters completed the project earlier this year, the team have now moved onto their fourth project for the Hospital, currently completing the Clinical Services Redevelopment, Renal & Endoscopy expansion project.
